I see you also like to live dangerously...
Is there any other way to college?
You could like...not procrastinate. (Shudders)
Writing exploratory essays is tougher than I thought. Voicing your concerns, thoughts, and opinions on a subject as divisive as climate change in a manner that doesn’t suck requires a significant time contribution. Also, finding contradictory evidence about climate change that isn’t straight up conspiracy theory is a challenge.
Literally finding any facts to help with a political or special or medical or environmental issue is impossible. For every article on vaccinations being good there’s two convincing articles saying they’re bad. Same for any topic. I remember when net neutrality was a thing. I wanted to find both sides to make a solid opinion. I COULD NOT find any articles favoring removing neutrality. I just couldn’t.
Yeah, I struggled finding something that I could discuss as an actual opposing view that was supported by scientific research. A lot of scientists disagree with climate change but provide little other than their opinion.
I remember writing a piece on minimum wage back in high school. After a week of skimming every article for or against increasing the wage, I learned that theres a whole set of people who are for abolishing it all-together. I just wanted to take a nap by then.
If you read enough you'll start finding 1-2 points ever few articles that'll help make a neutral argument. Then you just have to deal with sounding like an anti-vaxxer nut case while you do it 😂 Any position but 100% pro vaccine/climate change/major black and white issue makes you sound like a crazy person.
idk about political. 2 highly political issues that you can find evidence of both sides would be anything related to guns and abortion. Guns is obvious and while i dont think there is scientific evidence to prove the pro-life crowd is objectively right the morals behind do make sense regardless if there is also an ulterior motive to banning abortions.
Do you not realize that those are your own opinions?
i didn't even give my opinion on either though. the person I replied to said how it was impossible to find anything to back up the other side of some issues like vaccines or net neutrality since one side is objectively right. the 2 examples I gave were 2 political topics that have no objective right side since he/she said how all political issues have one side that is right, like NN.
How is one side of the net neutrality debate objectively right?
Vaccines have saved millions of lives.
Whether my ISP should be able to charge me extra for access to a competitor's website is a matter of opinion aka politics.
You state the pro life crowd is objectively right. If it was objective there wouldn’t be an argument about this still. Plus I can think of pro choice arguments too.
I literally say there is no scientific evidence making it objectively right and that the moral aspect is a sorta good argument. I didn't say the moral were objective in any way. What part of that is so hard to understand?
Wait, climate change is divisive?
Sure, you need to do your research, but I wasn't aware there is much stress over the academical basics of the phenomenon.
Danger... is my middle name
That’s why you 11:58 my boy. Got that slight wiggle room in case of slow internet.
College wouldn't feel that exciting otherwise.
In high school my boyfriend and I were in the same social studies class and we had a paper due that we procrastinated it to the very end. The timestamp for my highschools D2l included the second of submission. I submitted about 5 seconds before him and the next day our teacher said
"I have to congratulate (boyfriends name) on the tightest submission I have ever received, 11:59:57"
We take pride in being garbage
Hahahahahahaha. Three seconds is pretty legit.
"tightest submission I have ever received"
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Relationship goals right there haha 🙌🏼
I see you also use Canvas
Gotta say Canvas is far superior too Blackboard and Angel. I miss it. The school I transferred to is still on Blackboard.
It’s great except when D2L decides to take 5 minutes to upload a 2mb file.
Oh dude, for some reason my MacBook has been saving word docs in a folder it creates of its own accord. I was panicking when I couldn’t find my doc at 11:58. Also, two Bang energy drinks over a 5 hour period does not lend one to think rationally that late at night.
Why am I seeing everyone everywhere drinking Bang energy drinks and putting them on snap, are they just that good?
They don’t have any calories so people have this irrational thought it’s somehow healthier for them. Leading to it being more popular and posted in many places.
It also packs double the caffeine than your run of the mill energy drinks.
They have 300 milligrams of caffeine each which is why I drink them.
I once finished an essay at 11:59 pm and tried to submit it as fast as possible, but right when i clicked submit the clock turned 12. So i dun goofed.
I emailed my professor and he was nice enough to let me email him my whole paper. But he couldnt open the file. I tried again. Nope. I tried again. Nope. I tried again. Nope.
He then said “just copy and paste the paper into an email”
I did that and got an A on the class. Good times
That is a pretty understanding Professor. How could he not open your document?
I dunno. I tried .doc, .docx, and other file types. I blame the fact that I use OpenOffice and not microsoft word.
Your professor was legit a nice person. I once forgot to submit my work and when I emailed my professor and asked if I could just email it she said ''no''. == Got a B for that module
Been there. The adrenaline rush is so high, you could even say it’s addictive at times.
Hahahahahaha. I would say that I caused myself way too much unneeded stress.
That's a cover in case it didn't go in time. If it's a minute later and says "Try 5" or "Attempt 4", sometimes the professor will believe it and forgive it. Rookie move but it works sometimes.
My friends time stamp was once 11:59:55.
The real deadline is the last day of class
I know this feeling all too well...
A+. That takes real skill.
If I tried that with my luck, the computer would lock up and I’d fail the course 👞🌰
I've had this happen to me but the other way around, meaning i turned in a paper that was due at 12:00 at 12:01, thanks to my amateur procrastination and slow internet
Safe to say i was fairly dissapointed
(My professor gave me a zero for it too, which is fair but still burned a little lol)
I like to think I learned from that experience though :)
A friend of mine just didn’t make it to a Ph.D this year because of procrastination. Some 20 minutes before the deadline he switched on his PC to submit his final application, there occurred a problem in the internet connection. Now he waiting for the next call.
Damn, that is legit procrastination.
This is what we strive for.
when you're about to submit at 11:59 and your PC crashes.
I got a Mac and it hasn’t failed me yet.
I see that all 50 of your grandparents have died.
Fortunately, they survived this time
Gang gang my dude
This happened to me last week! I uploaded the assignment about 20 SECONDS before the 11:59:59 deadline. I submitted it at around 11:59:40
The amount of times I've done this is too many too count. Idk how I've gotten so lucky to hit 11:59 as many times as i have
I do this literally every time
Same bro. Had a paper due at midnight submitted at 11:58 pm. Beat you by one minute.
That’s one of the best feelings for sure
Procrastination level: Over 9000
Mine remains unsubmitted
I feel ya. Last night mine waw due at 9pm, got it in a minute before
I really don’t see what could be done differently...
Tried this once, but instead of 12:00am, it said due at 11:59pm, submitted it at 11:59, got a late submission. teacher understood and didn't mark me down for it
1 - The name of the paper should be course number - section - subject - your lastname: 301-03-Poles-Smith
2 - Use version control
3 - FFS, submit it one day in advance.
Definitely been there before and I can relate lol. Good job!
That's how god likes it to be.
Honestly, bless my communications TA who let us submit our final report up to 30 min late with no penalty, because I accidentally submitted 5 min late once. (Got an A+ in that class too). The edge is a dangerous place for me to live
Are you a librarian?
Ohhhhh hahahahaha, not in a community college on the west coast.
congrats on turning in an assignment on time??
exactly. i dont get why the sub glorifies last min submissions. just do your shit in a timely manner
Thanks for the advice, grandpa.
recap: so why didnt you manage your time?
OP: U R OLD
I am old. Time management is integral to success in almost any venture, but occasionally shit happens and you do what it takes to succeed.
I spent twenty plus hours writing this paper and turned it in with seconds to spare.
Bro calm down lmfao, getting big vibes you aren't in a S.T.E.M. field.
Y’all really gotta cut this out. Procrastinating like this and literally submitting at the last possible second isn’t gonna do you any favors later on. Get your work done early.
