Thumbthing tells me I've upset you
I think so too, but I just can't put my finger on it
was it the thumbnail that gave you that idea?
So like, what happened to your finger?
Damn. I dropped a 45 pound weight on my big toe a month ago it looks like shit now. Wish I thought of documenting its progress from shitty to still shitty.
Somebody threw a huge concrete block onto my nails... One of the damn things turned green and fell out then grew back a bit weird. Not a nice month or two.
Jesus christ what is with throwing concrete blocks? Reminds me of that wrestler in Mexico that chucked a cinderblock at his opponent’s head as a ‘receipt’ for a stiff shot earlier in the match.
reminds me of a time my buddy threw a concrete block at a raccoon and it almost caught it
Either you mean your buddy missed, or the raccoon went splat. I’m scared to ask which.
Confused by your phrasing, but thank you for making me imagine your friend throwing a cinderblock, the raccoon standing up, holding out a single hand, and making the cinderblock come to a complete stop, before throwing it back at 100mph.
I stubbed my toe against a door when I was little. The doctor had my toe numbed and he cut my toe nail off. When it grew back it grew back wrong. Soo now I have my normal toe nail growing and on the side ANOTHER sliver of toe nail growing. Soo technically I have two nails on my toe.
I've never told anyone this before.
I accidentally chopped off a corner of my thumb with a paper cutter and eventually it all grew back. The cut was 2 or 3 millimeters deep and perfectly flat. Turns out it was important that I was very young at the time since it appears that children's tips of fingers and toes can regenerate just like some lizards and amphibians can do. I had no idea at the time and was rather surprised. Even my thumbprint grew back.
I liked to whittle a lot when I was a kid. I think I've cut off a finger tip about 5-6 times, they always grew back completely over the course of about 3-4 weeks. Hurt pretty bad and bled like a mf though.
How old were you at the time?
The tip of my middle finger is still a bit of mess. I can feel that it's mostly scar tissue. But the print has regenerated to some extent. I was maybe 17 at the time. My arts teacher cut it off by accident. Well, my fault probably more than his.
My last roommate did that when he was moving out of his old place. Drops a 45lb weight on his toe, then says nothing for 3 days after the initial injury. Next thing I know he's pulling off his ENTIRE BIG TOENAIL from his right foot. I almost puked and passed out in one foul swoop.
That happened to me once, dropped an amp on my foot...big toe felt funny, but didn't know I had basically killed it. I'm a girl, toes had nail polish, so I didn't see any discoloration. Like a week later I stub my toe on the coffee table and my whole toenail fell off. I almost threw up.
Has it grown back since?
Did it hurt when it came off? I can’t imagine it not hurting, but deep down I’m hoping it would at least hurt less in this scenario...
Awh man this is what I wanna ask people too.
Like surely you "pull it off" and scream? Like I can't imagine pulling it off and not going "AJHSDBAJSHDBAJHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH". I know adrenaline and all is great, heck I study that and know it but shit come near me with a needle and I curl up inside, can't imagine pulling a nail off.
It doesn’t hurt at all, kind of like a scab falling off.
That grossed me out when I saw someone else do it too.
Then I crushed my own toe and it happened to me. TBH that wasn't even a big deal at that point with how dead it was. The painful days leading up were way worse.
Same, it took ~8 months for the nail to look close to normal
Dropped a huge CD player on my big toe at work 7 months ago. Toenail finally fell off just last week.
I think my bug toenail will fall off too... Is the skin underneath that is exposed after the nail is gone super sensitive, making it hard to wear shoes or anything?
I closed a car door on my thumb in when I was 11. The nail just barely hung on, but eventually came off when I was bowling. Grew back in perfect condition, luckily. Lucky for you all I don't have any pics of my thumb without a nail on it.
Same thing happened to me back in highschool. Dropped a heavy wooden bench on my foot. That bruise-nail-thing took like 8 months or something to grow off my big toe.
How many days did it take ?
'bout 15 seconds
I recently had an injury like this on my ring finger. Took almost 3 months for the whole thing to grow out.
I had one of these once when I worked in construction buildings highrise downtown, I was using a 2ft(not a typo) wrench to tighten a bolt and I accidentally squished just below the nail on my thumb, so it took a few months to appear at the clear part! Mine took closer to 9 months start to finish. The worst part is the last month as parts of it grow through but it's not all ready to go.
When I first saw this post, my mind immediately went to "I wonder how long his took to grow through" haha
2ft as in 2 feet long or a 2ft bolt head?! Hah.
I got mine when I was changing a tire on a 737. Torquing the axel nut, the socket slipped off and smashed my finger between the torque wrench and a wheel chock.
The wrench was rwo feet long, and I believeI was using a snipe for extra torque! I have never considered the possibility of a 2ft bolt head until now lol.. If that's a real thing, I don't want to be the person who has a job related to it!
I had blood stuck under my fingernail like that and it took about 2 months for it to get out
Looks like he took a picture a day and there's about 10 frames a second and the gif is 6-7 seconds so like 2 months?
This is a repost from just a couple days ago, but it took them a month
Maybe we are talking about different things but I also saw a gif like this a couple days ago but it was actually not the same. Different finger and looked a bit different, however you might have seen one I didn't but just thought I'd point this out :)
yeah, I had my pitchfork out but it's a different finger
Weirdly satisfying to watch.
It really is. It’s like a worm sliding, up it’s nail.
Please don't talk about a worm sliding up my nail
But it’s not ur nail OP
Are you ok?
Oh yeah, this was like 13 years ago, it just never healed correct.
hey as long as you can still use your thumb that’s all that matters
You have this for 13 years? Just get your nail removed dude
I mean if it doesnt hurt and is healthy i dont see why he would have to
Two of my pinky toes are similar like this.
What happened to cause that?
My fingertip got smooshed when I was little and the tip was cut off. The nail bed basically shattered, so my fucked up, deformed end of a finger has two nails, plus a third one that was later removed during marginally successful reconstructive surgery.
Yeah, I know a guy who has two levels of nail bed. One is a couple millimetres lower than the other one, about a third the width. Pretty strange to think about, but understandable. Quite sure he got it caught in a press or something
I hurt myself today... To see if I still feel...
You heard Johnny Cash's cover of that song? It's so fucking good, Trent Reznor said, basically, "Yeah, his version is the official one, now. It blows NIN's out of the water."
Username checks out
Thanks for showing us this collection of thumbnails
Was really hoping it would become a fly at the end and fly off.
I totally imagined it as a swallowed fly who had eventually worked his way out...a neato ending like that would have been a nice mindfudge.
I love r2d2 tripping out on the table 😝!
I missed the part where the nail fell off and regrew.
Nails are super weird.
I don’t think it did. The nail bed was damaged & it grew out (appears that way anyway).
Not rheumatoid arthritis.
Saves gif to computer, views thumbnail
Thumbnail of a thumbnail.
Add a printer sound please.
I have an R2D2 just like that on the dash of my car. He's called Cartoo Deetoo :-P
This got reposted already?
Does this work with chopped off arms too?
Unless you're old. Then time kills you.
Nice work keeping your nail trimmed.
That's all I could think about when watching this! Very consistent nail trimming routine.
This is happening to my big toenail right now and I've been trying to tell my girlfriend it is getting better, she's finally noticed 3 months later (last week) when it passed the cuticle
This also happened to me except for the fact it blistered a lot more underneath to the point it eventually cracked my nail off from the inside.. it started off great like this gif and it was very satisfying.. until my nail fell off. It was my pinky and I have very narrow and long nails. Bandaids for 2 months.. not pleasant not having a nail
What is the biological explanation of this movement? How does this happen? Is it only on the nails?
He free now.
OK but why do you keep smashing it again once it healed? Do you not learn?
Can it heal depression?
This is satisfying
It looked like some larva burrowed in and I was terrified to watch it make its way to the surface to spread its wings after developing behind the window of your fucking nail.
Reverse it and give everyone nightmares
I straight up thought this dude hurt himself again when I had thought I missed a loop
One of my nails did exactly this... but the other one that I caught in the car door actually ate a hole right through my nail while it grew up and out, was really weird!!!
Did anyone else cringe through the whole gif and then just nope out when it looped?
I got the weak stomach for injured nails. It's like I can feel the initial injury through the scren.
Or it just moves them
I got clamped by a binder as a kid. The blister/bruise felt like hell for a bit.
Some thing oddly satisfying about this. Can’t put my finger on it.
That's really thumbthing!
Kinda regret not doing this with my own nail. A few months back I smashed my index finger with a hammer. The I had to cut away the died nail part.
it truely does
Except emotional wounds.
R2 did eventually recover from that spill.
How much time? A week? A month? A year? Two years? 5 years? 10?
I injured my pinky toe like that and it took a whole year for the blood to grow out of the nail.
Under my thumb, the girl who once had me down,
That left me with a strange feeling in my plums.
I don’t like this.
My thumb took about 5 months to heal when I got it jammed in a gate. It was completely black! After it stopped hurting I decided to pick at it and destroyed the nail bed. It grew back but damn it took forever.
Unless the wound is a cancerous lesion.... or if the wound leads to a form of shock and the patient expires before initial insult resolution. Tis no god that giveth and taketh away....but time.
Like that this imp....
Fingers can repair so completely from major damage.
I took a big chunk off my thumb under the nail right down to the joint, the entire thing grew back with a new thumbprint.
I was half expecting for it to be edited at the end when the blood came up to the top, I thought something was going to fly out of the nail lol.
I'm not sure if I'm impressed, intrigued or disgusted
This is a subungual hematoma.
Is it possible to change the thumbnail of the gif?
His nail got better, but his finger looked like it aged 10 years.
Looks like it kept coming back to me...
Except for amputations.
You know what it doesn't heal?
That bitches window
Suppose you would have died midway through?
I needed this. Thank you.
Got my index fingernail blown off by a bebe gun. It strangely healed like it did here.
It didn't heal it grew out
Wait what is that?
Ran a drill bit into the back of my thumb and had a similar experience.
It was just nice to see my nail grow out and not look mangled. It’s a huge relief.
I wonder why it goes up? Because the nail is growing?
I am currently going through this with my right big toe.
This happened to me and I had to heat up a needle and press it through my nail to relieve the blood in my thumb. It hurt so much but was needed to be done.
Why does your finger print bloody nails?
Why is R2D2's position so wildy unpredictable
Look at that thing go.
Looks like a fuckin bug is crawling outta his fingers
Cool! It's like the Milky Way traversing the sky!
Friday the 13th part 2 is playing in the background and it was at the part where you could see Jason with a bruised thumb. Then I scroll a little further and here we are. Lol
Which app did you use? I have some progress pictures after my toe surgery and I would like to put them together like you did :)
The rate at which Atlantic continental drift is expanding.
I can’t get over the fact you keep your nails sensibly short.
What a cute ickle gif
thank you for this
Thanks I hate it.
Very cool. Thanks for making this video.
