I joined the gym just over 2 years ago in the hopes to bulk up. The majority of my progress has actually in fact been in the past 4 months but this old picture best showed how skinny I used to be.
Jumped between a few routines but I've stuck with PHUL over the past 4 months and I continue to adapt it and stick with it.
I don't currently track my calories but I am beginning to focus more on my diet now I have a consistent gym plan.
Long neck crew represent! Lol j/k brother.
First off, great progress gaining weight. I read some of the other comments and agree you did bulk WAY too fast but there’s definitely visible gains. I also saw that you plan to continue bulking.
Here’s my advice: do a cut. Focus on maintaining your muscle, losing that fat in your midsection, then SLOWLY bulk up.
I’m on my first cut ever and bulked much slower than you to 210 lbs believe it or not and looked way less fat. I am now cutting to 170 and in 3 weeks lost 15 lbs. I’ve kept almost all my strength and still have big arms, chest, etc.
Outside of that you NEED to focus on traps and core. For me my traps look really good for a natty but I’ve always hated core excercises. During this cut I started trying to focus on all my weak points and I’m gaining muscle while losing weight.
My main hope from this hope is to get some feedback on my progress. Though I am happy with the obvious difference in these two pictures I feel as if my body isn't very proportional and wondered what you think. I have always lacked a chest and I am struggling to grow it.
I'm interested in what people have to say about you as well. I'm roughly the same as you are now, but came from the other side (fat, lost 35 kg) and now wondering "what next".
Why do you think most of your gains came from the last 4 months?
Well done on losing 35kg!
The gains purely down to consistency. I graduated last year and got a full-time job, and since then I've been able to stick to a routine.
Makes sense. And what have you planned next? Keep the routine until you hit some goal?
I'm planning on continuing with my routine with a semi-lean bulk and then cutting hard before a summer holiday I have planned. After the holiday I plan focus more on what I eat and continue a lean bulk and see where it takes me.
Hah pretty much like me. You sure we aren't related or something?
Btw you mentioned a possible lack of proportions but your lifting stats are actually pretty proportional, almost ideal.
Great progress but ease up of fix the bulk
You look like you gained more fat than you wanted , this could either be because you are eating too much or not eating the right foods.
Try to stick to complex carbs and proteins. Veggies , whole grain pasta and brown rice are go to carbs. As far as protein, chicken, eggs, yogurt, protein powder and beef.
Best of luck !
I had always struggled with gaining weight and I ended up buying weight gain protein which definitely helped me out on some weight. I've finished it now and replaced it with just impact whey protein so I'm hoping now I'll bulk with less fat gain.
