For a minute, I thought it was going to be a pair of doofy penguins. Very happy with the outcome!! That looks awesome! And I love that movie!
I thought it was gonna be dickbutt. Pleasantly surprised.
I also thought penguins until the very last second
I was wondering why they were painting the penguin yellow but thoughtbokay it must be some lighting thing that’ll look cool when they’re done
I would have preferred the goofy penguins.
Needs more jump cuts. Didn't quite trigger a seizure.
Just a camera mount would have been nice. I could tolerate the jumps if they were all shot from the same angle.
I couldn't finish watching it gave me a headache.
They're stuck in La La Land
I did a painting very similar to that, much larger and much, much worse
Love it. One of my favorite movies.
I gasped. Was not expecting something I recognised.
Do you think this is harder or easier than making a large painting?
I have to go with easier. I imagine a large painting all the small details become HUGE and any tiny mistake is also amplified. Not saying this isn't skillful or impressive, it totally is, just wondering.
It's easier simply because there's so much less painting to do.
I love this. La la land is one of my fave movies ever
Can anyone find a source? I'd love to have one for my desk.
At some point before the details came in, this looked like some of the art from PBF comics.
Also, glad to see Fox and Dana got their happily ever after.
"The sun is nearly gone"
City of stars...
Isn't that the couple who saved jazz?
What a great picture of Moonlight.
City of stars, are you shining just for me?
City of stars, there’s so much that I can’t see
First thought that came to my mind was Monkey Island 2. I think it is the background.
"You want the moon Mary? I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. You can eat it and have little moon beams shooting out of you toes. Out of your finger tips....and the ends of your hair."
Can anyone stabilise this?
I submitted it to /r/stabbot, the results weren't too great (it's usually better)
Thank you. It is improved. This was an interesting thing to paint and post, ruined by inventive(?) videography ...
Ou-ou-ou! Gifted hands, not cat-paws like I have))
Smol Smol Land
City of Stars...
Is this loss?
Looks like a Vettriano.
Well that easel looks useless
Thought it was going to be 2 men fishing
Anyone else bothered that the girls face is way darker than her arms...
Then the whole owl.
I thought it was going to be a Geico commercial. On how to save money by buying tiny paintings.
I need to see a banana
still should have used some mini gesso
WOW! This is amazing!
How did I not see what it is? I still have no clue what the painting is supposed to be.
Someone in the crowd will now be stuck in my head all day.
Thought we were getting an MST3K silhouette
It wasn't dickbutt, I am genuinely surprised.
Put that in an art gallery, will sell for $15 million..
I love your painting but that movie was pathetic.
Honestly thought it was gonna be a dude riding a giant penguin.
Yeah but did you cover the canvas with titanium white first?
I was listening to the soundtrack when I found this... it's fate
You don’t need that much detail just dip it in nuln oil and your good to go
No Banana for scale?
Love this, love the movie too.
Thought it was going to be Bill and Ted’s Excellent Mini Painting there for a sec...
I can do the first five seconds of that, no problem.
And then you put a little bush just right hear, a friendly little bush.
Thank you Bob Ross.
How to draw an owl...
She forgot to sign it or it never happened...
Beautiful, but the lack of hands is disturbing me
I see these and I always think "oh this will be an ok painting" in the middle of them doing it and then I blink and im like "oh yo what the fuck"
Always upvote La la land :)
Spirit crushing yet inspirational. I wish my hands weren’t so.. dependent on my personal ability to do things.... (sigh)
Holy fuck. Stabbot this shit
Sorry I blinked and went from “testing the brush” to “that’d be nice in my living room”
City of staaarss...
I thought he looks like Ryan Gosling. Then I knew why. The question is: Did I knew it because my brain identified it as La la Land before I realized it, or does he really look like him?
Pretty much because you recognized it as La La land.
go get that tiny Bob Ross.
Anyone else expect Bill and Ted and first?
I buy sets of these mini canvases on Ebay for super cheap and the kids and I go through them like crazy. Sometimes we use paint and sometimes we use markers. It's a great inexpensive way for practicing creativity, getting familiar with what a paintbrush and paint will do, and without too much creative pressure if you're not yet very good at it. If you don't like how something came out, just paint white over it and start something new. If you do like how it came out, they are adorable little decorations that don't take up a lot of space.
"It's just a bunch of blue strokes."
"Woah hold on."
I feel like what it's like to be a painter is looking at a blank canvas and seeing the picture already there....and you just fill in the colors.
Did you beat the devil out of it afterwards?
Finally, a piece of original art I could probably afford!
That's a whole lot better than I thought it would have turned out. I'm impressed.
Looks so easy... Just gonna get my paintbrush and paint a copy of this...
three hours later
The entire canvas is covered in black, some smudged white here and there and a ghastly yellow streak too tie it all together... And the dog has swallowed the blue color and machine-gun shat the living room like some pointilist brown painting...
Ha ha I'm actually the artist in this gif! Crazy logging in and seeing my work on reddit, upvotes to the left.
Where can I see more, John
The unsteady camera rapidly jumping all over the place is making this hard for me to watch.
Mai daon pula mea ba, astiass nebuni
I found that camera style annoying. Shaky and skipping.
ooh ooh I know this one... MOONLIGHT!
That GIF and the resulting painting are so much better than La La Land. I usually like Emma Stone, I like Ryan Gosling, I can stand some musicals. But not La La Land. Ugh.
