It was never really a competition, just a training match. The end result doesn't matter as long as the class is able to have a decent showing of their skills, which they did... mostly.
Yea. The only stakes there are is for Shinso and whether or not he performs well enough to get into the hero course.
It does clearly matter though, all the characters are making very clear it matters so I don't think one can just dismiss it as 'irrelevant'. If B gets crushed here overall 3-1 it just keeps up this trend of making them look really inferior to A.
They're high schoolers that are all trying to be Top Dawgs ™ in one of the most competitive professions in their universe. Everything they do, as heroes and heroes in training, is a competition between them from their perspectives.
That's the only reason it's so important to them.
Also, I predict the fight will end in one of four ways.
1. They draw after a long drawn out fight.
2. Deku's teammates get taken out despite them securing a numbers lead so he has to defeat whoever is left of Class B alone
3. Class B will do everything they can to take out Deku, but Deku's teammates will be able to work together to pick them off one by one.
4. Class B will manage to take out Deku but they would've used so much energy in doing so that they end up struggling to take on Uravity, Grape Juice, and Pinkey.
so? how is that going to contribute to the plot?
How is what going to contribute to the plot?
Oh that's easy! As seen already with Kendo and Tetsutetsu they can directly impact the plot, and if they are for a change actually displayed as formidable and not just losers compared to A then they provide engaging competition for them.
And that’s like 2/20 class B characters
Yes because that's the only one that has happened so far. But that is the thing about the future, more things can happen. Kinda like how many characters from A, such as Hagakure, have done almost nothing, but that doesn't rule out them doing things in the future.
You do realize a story sees change and development over time, right? A story doesn't have one group introduced to be focused on and then no-one else is ever focused on, there is a reason the addition of more characters and the expansion of their development is a cornerstone of almost all stories.
Undetermined because of Shinso involvement, even if win or lose
Sorry, I don't quite understand?
Technically what monoma and vlad and others people said about shinso that his involvement may resolve in losing/winning of the team.
Like in the 1st match, class A wins because they have shinso. But if he is not with them the results may varies since class A team 1 will have to actually make a plan. (they didnt make a concrete plan because they were talking with shinso in the start of the match before planning)
Sure but I'm not really sure what bearing that has on my fear that this will just be another curbstomp by A of B. Sorry I'm just not exactly sure what the point you're making is, naturally I do agree that Shinso's presence has an affect on any battle he's in here.
I don’t know I am hopeful for a close match up and then winning because of Shinsou.
Then the classes will be perfectly balanced. Vlad said Class A won the first match due to Shinsou, now again if B win because of Shinsou then those two wins cancel out. Match 2 and 4 cancel out and 3 was a tie.
Atleast if not a win for B I am expecting a tie. Because while I love Deku him just steamrolling opponents would suck plus I love Monoma and Shinsou. So just my 2 cents
I don’t care who wins, as long as Ochaco gets character development.
Yeh that would be dope. I know that people are waiting for the next villain arc. But since Hori already got a school arc it feels a waste to not develop the main characters or explore the other characters. So I want good writing. Doesn’t matter how long it takes.
I hope they win but...even if it is a tie that still means B lost overall. So I do hope Class B wins this one to at least make the two Classes equal overall >_<
Even if 5A loses this, A still has the edge, as the two 4 nils are completely different: Tokoyami was within striking distance of victory, but 4B was pretty much destroyed comprehensively. And I say Tokoyami specifically because his lack of ruthlessness was what cost them an otherwise eminently winnable match (he still would have had to deal with a tremendously slowed down Kendo and Fukudashi with sore throat, but I feel he had the edge if Mushroom girl was knocked out). 4A would have to be destroyed in five minutes (which isn't gonna happen for sure) for this to be a proper tie between the two classes
Also, I think a possible scenario might be all of 5B except Shinso getting captured/disabled, but Shinso manages to capture/disable Midoriya and the others as well (just speculation)
Yeh that is true. Still Bakugou's smooth victory can be laid on Tokage underestimating Bakugou and her shitty plan in thinking if I hit him with body parts he will ignore his team when they are in trouble. Honestly don't see how that is such a shocker though. They are HIS team and if he wants to win he will need them. Bakugou was never averse to using his team for his own benefit, so why wouldn't he save them?
But yeh, it will still be unbalanced but not completely a wipe if B wins this
Yeah but at leat they wouldn't have crushed them overall then since it'd be 2-2. Don't get me wrong, I still really dislike the previous chapter and hoped this Arc would actually try to do something to finally give B a win after they sucked so much at the Sports Festival, but at this point I'm just praying they at least tie overall so they don't look completely pathetic.
At the beginning of this arc, I fully expected B to give a tough fight at every turn (which kind of didn't happen, considering the 4th match), but A winning overall is not too out of script either, they are, after all the primary protagonists. That being said, a draw overall makes the most sense. Either that, or it's a draw in this match with Shinso as the last man standing (rules state that if 4 of his team mates are captured, they lose the match), thus giving A the overall win. But I'd put my money on 5B winning after an extremely hard fought match. Midoriya is also at a bad disadvantage, as Monoma is now fully acquainted with what Shinso can do, unlike the first team (Tsuyu and the rest)
I seriously hope you're right. I'm tired of B sucking so much.
Nah I think Class B is gonna win simply because Shinso needs to get into the hero course otherwise what's the point of this arc? And the only way for him to do that is for him to have a good performance in both of his matches. He was the crutch that allowed Class A to win in round 1 now he needs to do it again for Class B.
He could have a good performance without winning, but I do hope you're right.
I want Shinso to win and get into the hero course , not only because i like Shinso as a character but mostly because i wonder how they'll integrate him into the course.
I mean , will they just put Shinso in as a 21st student for 1a or 1b? i kinda hope that they need to keep 40 students in the hero course at all times so they have to kick someone out .
I just think that would raise the stakes a lot more and possibly create the nice dynamic of a student who needs to deal with being placed in a lower class , making awkward contact with his old-classmates and doubting their abilities , it could even be a nice character development arc for one of the lesser used students .
Hmm. I hope Shinshou wins too, but mostly just cause I'd like B to at least draw overall. I don't think they'll go the route of saying one of the students from the existing classes gets demoted, I think that's very unlikely, but I can't say for sure.
Oh now you are making me get my hopes up with Shinsou character development. I am all down for it.. And I want Shinsou and class A interactions especially with Midoriya, Bakugou and Todoroki. and Sero too.
Would be hilarius to see a Mineta/Shinsou chat.
Mineta goes perv mode,
Shinso calls him.
Shinsou: Got you, Now dunk your head in water for 2 seconds and roam the class with a note I am a dirty perv on the forehead for today..
I hope they put him in 1-A so Bakugo can give him a good spanking
I'm personally rooting for shinso to win but I also want a tie.
Heck,I just want shinso to be in the hero course. He deserves it.
I want Shinso to win because the only way for the overall result to be anything other than B straight losing it needs to be a win for B here.
I disagree, I don’t think Tokage did as bad as people make it out to be.
She utilitied her quirk to disrupt Jirou from accurately tracking her and landed some hits on Bakugou as well as lured the team into a trap which would have worked if not for Bakugou’s development and Sero, Jirou and Satou’s teamwork with him. As the scouter dude said Tokage’s team was a solid set up but they were more technique fighters that don’t do well in head to head fights. They had a good strategy that got hard countered due to unforeseen development in their eyes.
It doesn't really change that, what we got to see of her, was her just doing very badly. I mean she 'landed some hits' on Bakugou, but they were hits literally so weak they barely did anything :/
It’s not always about “landing a hit”. There are other ways to be effective in a battle like this. Tokage showed that she’s an opportunist that uses her quirk more for confusing the opponents, luring them and attacking when there is an advantage when their at a disadvantaged situation. She had a decent strategy that would have worked on pre character development Bakugou.
Except it didn't work and she kinda achieved nothing. In theory maybe, sure, but I'm talking about what happened in practise.
