RIP Stan Lee :(
95 is a good age, can't quite believe he's gone.
I'm kind of in shock over his death.
I'm glad he was in that game, excelsior!
To all those who responded "how can that be surprising" keep in mind I did not say I was surprised. Shocked and surprised do not carry the same meaning.
Consider the fact that his works were a major part of my young life, as they were for many, before we had 3d games, cgi movies, the internet, the comics and shows that were derived from the comics were the most entertaining things you could watch or read.
Yes he was old but it isn't an impossible feat to live a long time. I was not aware he was in poor health and believed that he would get to see and be a part of the culmination of the marvel universe in theater.
Losing him isn't losing some actor that you like. Much like the feelings that poured forth when we lost Jim Henson, we have lost a unique and beloved major creator of dreams, imagination, and fun.
Wait, was Stan Lee's final movie cameo ever in a DC movie and not a Marvel movie? That's a plottwist.
Don’t worry, production on other Marvel movies has already wrapped so he’ll most likely appear in those, and I’m sure they’ll continue the tradition in some way. (Background photo’s, posters, tv clips etc.) Plenty of ways to pay homage to him in future MCU movies!
It's confirmed he finished his Avengers 4 cameo. I'm assuming his captain marvel cameo is complete as well. As for Spider-Man, I'm not so sure.
Wait where was he in infinity war?
Edit: oh right the bus, thought that was homecoming
Avengers 4 or Spiderman would both be really fitting final cameos if it's one of those two.
It’s possible they can do CGI cameos. They did it in Rogue One with Grand Moff Tarkin. So it’s possible they could do it for Stan as well
I'm hoping he expressed his own opinion on whether he'd want them to do that or not. Normally I'd feel like they should just leave it at posters or portraits or whatever and let whatever the last cameo he filmed was be the final full cameo, but if he said he was in favor of having CGI cameos in the future then I'd obviously want them to fulfill his wish.
I was in the theatre watching Venom when I found out. My phone was blowing up in my pocket. I thought it might have been some kind of family emergency. As it turned out, it was this news. It seemed very fitting to learn the news while watching a Marvel movie. His cameo was extra special, almost brought a tear to my eye. I was fortunate to meet Mr. Lee briefly at a Comic Con a few years ago. I will treasure our brief interaction.
I said, "Mr. Lee, thank you for your wonderful creations and the joy you have brought to countless people."
Mr. Lee cupped his hand to his ear, and said, "Huh?"
I replied, "Thank you."
He smiled and nodded.
I'm sure he'll end up being like Robin Williams.
I.E. A few more movies with him in it that were recorded before he passed.
Yeah Marvel aren't stupid, they've probably stockpiled a few cameos with him to cover the next year or two at least
He was in Venom
Edit: Never gotten gold before, now I feel guilty benefiting off of Stan Lee’s death
So sad that he won’t see the conclusion to the Marvel cinematic universe. He started it all!
This is terribly sad. But he will live on in the movies, tv shows, comics, and characters that he helped create. He's not gone. He shaped our culture in a big way and that won't be forgotten.
I would disagree. He got to see his work come to life in ways most writers would never get to experience. Not to mention the generations of kids that have been touched because of his contributions. He may not have gotten to see the end, but what a good time to go out.
he probably knows tbh
This is so sad, I once heard someone refer to Stan Lee as "A father of modern mythology" and I thought that was the coolest thing that I have ever heard, because its true.. F..
Tolkien might disagree
Tolkien built one of the deepest, largest, most engrossing universes ever with the LOTR world. Stan Lee built multiple worlds, some deeper than others. An argument can be made for either person depending on whether you value detail over breadth. Really is just a matter of perspective. Love them both.
Stan Lee did build some other worlds, but his main achievement in my opinion was the augmentation of our own world with a sense of magic and hope. A belief that ordinary people can become extraordinary, and that when things are at their worst we can still achieve redemption and glory.

RIP Stan Lee... Pardon me for asking, what does the F stand for? Is it specific to stan lee, gaming in general or for tribute/respect in general?
Basically, at the beginning of one of Call of Duty game you're at the funeral and the game displays a prompt "Press [F] to pay respects" It just sounds ridiculous.
I like press x to kiss wife better.
I only press X to Jason.
The random capitalization really fits the tone of his voice.
I can hear it in my head.
X is for doubt
Press “X” to doubt
I prefer press X for JASOOOOOOOON
X is for doubt
At this point it's oddly transcended though from being a silly meme to a legit way people express their sadness towards a loss. It's actually kind of useful because when you don't know what to say you can always just say F and a lot of people online will get it.
Think Call Of Duty was one of the first game's to do it but either way in that game there's a scene where you're at a main characters funeral service and if you go over to the coffin you get a prompt that says "press F to pay respects" all this does if you press f is places your characters hand on the coffin until you let of f. The internet just latched onto because it's such a small insignificant and fairly useless feature that was put in nonetheless.
I read an interview with one of the developers who stated that it was meant to send a message about how hollow paying respect to the sacrifices of veterans has become. It was meant to come across as trivial, ham-handed and awkward, because that's how we treat the deaths of servicemen these days.
I mean, not totally useless. It's a game, I'm playing a character. I could choose not to press F to not pay respects.
Lol I can't believe you got down voted for asking that, it's specific to some game, I think call of duty. It has to do with a funeral in game
It's from this scene in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. That clip must be from the Playstation version, but on the PC it was Press F to Pay Respects and it caught on as a meme because of how ridiculous it seemed to have that instruction to the player midway through a cutscene. So basically it's a gaming meme that means you're paying respect.
(Also, forgot Kevin Spacey was in that game, sorry about that. Amazed they haven't released a patch that replaces him with Christopher Plummer yet.)
Can't believe it. Stan was such a legend in the comics industry. Gonna be weird without him and Ditko.
You will be missed, you absolute legend of a man.
I don’t wanna lego
There will never be another Stan Lee, what he gave to this world will be his never ending legacy. Rest in peace you have earned it and now become the one above all.
I think you meant for your title to say "Give me karma over this sad event".
